Donald A. Hill, Jr. died Wednesday, Feb. 11, at Tahoe Forest Hospital after a nearly year-long bout with cancer. He was 50.

Born on June 17, 1958 in Ventura, Calif., to Don and Doris Hill, Don Jr. was raised in Goleta, Calif., where he graduated from Dos Pueblos High School and took computer programming classes at Santa Barbara Community College.

Don came to Incline Village 32 years ago. Most people knew him as a volleyball player extraordinaire with the USVBA League, the Park and Rec League and on the beach. A volleyball tournament is being planned in his honor for this summer. He also enjoyed tennis, racquetball, skiing and traveling. Airplanes fascinated him from an early age. He always impressed nephews and nieces with how very cool he was.

Don worked at the Ponderosa Ranch, the North Lake Tahoe Bonanza, Art Attack frame shop and as a movie extra. His full time career was as a game developer for Apple. He wrote business and game software with an emphasis on flight simulators. His final game, Skyfighters Sop vs. Tri, came out for the Ipod Touch at the time of his death.

Don is survived by his girlfriend of 31 years, Robin and her family; his father Don Sr.; his sisters Leanna, Dianna and Stephanie; brothers-in-law; nephews; nieces; and many friends. He will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, at the Incline Village Library, 845 Alder Ave.

In lieu of flowers, donations to help with medical expenses may be mailed to Don Hill at P.O. Box 106, Genoa, Nev. 89411.
